In boca al lupo (2010) (7:15) for Marimba Solo

Program notes

In bocca al lupo (2010) is an Italian expression which translates “in the mouth of the wolf.” This work represents a story within a story, talking about events occurring during and after the writing of my Udumvara concerto for horn and orchestra. I find marimba a surprisingly colorful instrument and a perfect match for the wide gamut of emotional experiences portrayed in this piece. In bocca al lupo received its world premiere by Mark Cook on. April 19, 2012 at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, USA.
