Program Notes:

This suite comprised of three miniatures based on a 12-tone series was inspired by the first line from the Sanctus (Latin: “holy”), a hymn of praise from the Christian liturgy, also found in Isaiah 6:3 of the Holy Bible: Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth. Pleni sunt cæli et terra gloria tua. This is followed in different liturgies and configurations by Hosanna in excelsis. Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Hosanna in excelsis. The meaning of these lines is significant in terms of program for each miniature.
